Dr. Gamze Varan graduated from Hacettepe University Department of Biology in 2010 and obtained her Ph.D. degree at Hacettepe University Department of Nanotechnology and Nanomedicine in 2018 under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Erem Bilensoy on the evaluation of efficacy and safety of polycationic amphiphilic cyclodextrin nanoparticles as anticancer drug delivery systems. She is post-doctoral researcher at Hacettepe University Faculty of Pharmacy Department of Pharmaceutical Technology.

She is the author of 7 scientific articles and 5 international book chapters about cyclodextrin nanoparticles and nanoparticulate drug delivery systems. She has given 6 oral and 9 poster presentations at international conferences. She has been awarded with the best poster awards at 7th International Pharmaceutical Technology Symposium (2014) and EUFEPS Annual Meeting (2018). Besides that, she won EUFEPS WIPS Women in Pharmaceutical Sciences Award in 2018.

She awarded a grant by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey for 6 months and she was at the University of Geneva as a visiting researcher during her Ph.D. studies.  She was also the recipient of a grant from The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) National Ph.D. Scholarship.

She worked as a researcher or recipient of grant in various research projects. She is currently working as a researcher in 3 different projects on nanoparticulate drug delivery systems in cancer therapy.

Her current research interests include nanoparticulate drug delivery systems in cancer therapy, cyclodextrin based nanoparticles, cholesterol targeted nanoparticles, cationic nanoparticles in cellular interaction, conventional and 3D cell culture techniques, proteomics and genomics.
